ELJ Publications call for submissions!

ELJ Publications has quite a few calls for submissions out there that all of you should know about (and submit to)! With so many things going on, there’s something for everyone.

Two projects focused on Mental Health:

Esperanza Editions: A Mental Health Series

ELJ Publications has created the Esperanza Editions Series under the ELJ Publications to address mental health awareness. Any single author title with a mental illness theme accepted will be part of the Esperanza Editions Series. In addition to receiving an ELJ Publications standard contract, each accepted author will receive a $50 stipend or token advance. The royalties on a $12 tile is $1.20. A $50 token advance roughly equals 42 copies sold. For those of you familiar with the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Series, 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything.

The stigma surrounding mental illness must be eliminated. ELJ Publications admire writers willing to tackle this theme through art, to share their stories with the world. We are looking to remove the stigma of mental illness with powerful words of experience. Each submitter must have experienced mental illness first hand or is very close to a loved on experiencing mental illness. Please tell us your story. Together we will write away the stigma one word at a time.

Our Wood Becomes Bone Collection is part of the Esperanza Series.

Thank you for sharing your story.

There’s even a project open only to women writers:

Wild Horses: The Women on Fire Series

ELJ Publications is looking to publish an annual collection beginning in March 2015 to celebrate Women’s History Month exclusively written by women titled Wild Horses. We are looking for 10 writers each contributing either a creative non-fiction or memoir no more than 5,000 words long to be a part of an annual collection. Ideally, every piece will exceed 3,000 words. Submissions will be open annually until all slots are filled. Accepted contributors will be paid $10 each and receive 5 copies of the collection. We are looking to share women’s stories of empowerment and triumph, everything and anything woman. Every submitter must be a woman. Sorry gentlemen. Please tell us your story. Together we will set the world on fire.

We are currently accepting 1-3 pieces per submission.

All sales proceeds will be donated to RAINN: Rape Abuse Incest National Network.

Long story short: Submit to this amazing press!
